AHEPA Senior Living Communities

AHEPA Senior Living is the nonprofit housing arm of AHEPA, a Greek American service organization. Its local chapters have built and operated affordable apartment buildings for older adults. Most were financed through the federal HUD Section 202 program. Its website lists 89 properties in 19 states. Many are named for the sponsoring AHEPA chapter, such as AHEPA 310 or Penelope 35.

These income-restricted independent living apartments generally serve people 62 and older. Rent is tied to household income instead of market rates. The properties are independent living communities and do not provide personal care or nursing. A small group of Hellenic Senior Living buildings offer assisted living with staff on site around the clock. Indiana and Alabama have the most AHEPA properties, followed by Connecticut, Ohio and Florida.

Rent depends on income, and many buildings maintain waiting lists. Families should contact each property to ask about eligibility rules, current income limits, wait times and on-site services, including service coordinators or community meals.
