LCS Senior Living Communities

LCS, short for Life Care Services, is a senior living management company based in Des Moines, Iowa, with more than 50 years in the business. It manages communities for nonprofit and investor owners. Most buildings carry their own names instead of the LCS brand. Its location finder covers several community families, including Vi communities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois and South Carolina, Clarendale buildings, many of them in the Chicago area, Rose Senior Living communities in Ohio, Michigan and elsewhere, Sterling Estates in Georgia, and a long list of independent life plan campuses.

This directory lists 126 LCS communities across 29 states. Florida has the most, followed by Illinois, Texas, Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota and California. Nearly every location offers independent living, while most also provide assisted living and memory care. About half are life plan communities, also called continuing care retirement communities. These campuses include skilled nursing, allowing residents to move between levels of care without leaving.

Life plan communities often charge an entrance fee plus a monthly fee. Rental communities charge monthly only. Families should ask each community which contract types are available, what the entrance fee covers, how refunds work, and how monthly fees change when a resident needs more care.
