About Senior Lifestyle
Senior Lifestyle is a privately owned senior living company based in Chicago. It opened its first community on the Chicago lakefront in 1985, and its own website lists 77 communities today. Illinois is by far its biggest market with 34 locations, followed by Pennsylvania with 10, and the rest are spread across Georgia, Florida, Ohio, New York, Michigan, New Jersey, Maine, Oregon, Colorado and New Mexico.
The portfolio has two distinct parts. About 50 of the communities are traditional senior living, where assisted living is offered at 48, independent living at 44 and memory care at 32, and a handful of campuses in Colorado, Illinois, Maine and Ohio also include skilled nursing. The other 24 are Senior Suites, affordable apartment buildings in Chicago and nearby suburbs for independent adults 62 and older, which Senior Lifestyle has run since 1995. Its memory care neighborhoods use programs it calls Embrace, Essence (aromatherapy) and Melody (music), and its lifestyle programming is grouped under a set of Signature Experiences.
Each community page posts a starting monthly rate. In September 2026 the assisted and independent living communities ranged from about $1,900 to about $9,350 a month, while Senior Suites apartments started near $1,280. Families comparing Senior Lifestyle communities should ask which care levels are licensed at that building, what the starting rate includes, and how the price changes when more care is needed.
