New Senior Living Apartment Complex Coming to Maple Grove

The Doran Group has unveiled plans for a new senior living apartment complex in Maple Grove, set to rise as a four-story, 124-unit building at 11751 Arbor Lakes Pkwy. N., situated near the intersection of Hemlock Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard. This development aims to enhance the living options for seniors in the area, offering modern, comfortable housing tailored to their needs.

Targeted at Seniors Age 55 and Older

This new apartment complex will be restricted to seniors aged 55 and older, with the anticipated average age of residents around 70 years. The units will be offered at market rates, providing a range of living options designed to accommodate the senior community's diverse needs and preferences.

Features and Amenities

The facility will feature a host of amenities aimed at promoting an active and engaging lifestyle for its residents. Planned features include a state-of-the-art fitness room with scheduled classes, an entertainment suite for social gatherings, a library for leisure and learning, and outdoor patio spaces for relaxation. Additionally, a spa will be available to enhance residents' well-being. Evan Doran of The Doran Group emphasized that the building’s design focuses on bringing a touch of the outdoors inside. “What we’re trying to do with this community is bring a little bit of the outdoors in,” he explained. “We’re creating internal spaces that provide a four-season porch experience, catering to those who may not spend extensive time outdoors but still appreciate a connection to nature.”

Approval and Development Status

On August 5, the Maple Grove City Council approved the development plans for the new senior apartment complex, following a positive recommendation from the Maple Grove Planning Commission. The project received support from most council members, though Council Member Kristy Janigo voiced concerns about the removal of memory care units from the initial proposal. She noted the increased requirements for building materials related to memory care facilities but acknowledged the significant demand for market-rate senior housing.

With the necessary approvals in place, The Doran Group is set to move forward with the construction of the new senior living community.
