Midland Care PACE

PACE — Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly — is a Medicare and Medicaid benefit that provides comprehensive medical and social services to seniors 55 and older who qualify for nursing-home-level care but wish to remain in the community. Unlike traditional assisted living, PACE coordinates all of a participant's care through one interdisciplinary team, covering everything from physician visits and prescription drugs to therapy, meals, transportation, and personal care.

Midland Care PACE is well-situated for access to quality hospital care. The University of Kansas Health System (KU Medical Center) is one of the closest major academic medical centers and is widely regarded as the region's top facility for complex and specialty care. Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS also serves the local community, providing emergency, surgical, and specialty services close to State Avenue.

Kansas City, Kansas offers seniors an affordable, community-oriented environment with strong healthcare infrastructure and plenty of amenities. Wyandotte County Lake Park provides accessible green space and walking paths, while shopping and dining options at the Village West and Legends Outlets area make errands and family outings easy. The city has a deep sense of neighborhood identity — particularly in areas like Strawberry Hill — and benefits from its proximity to the broader Kansas City metro, giving seniors access to major medical, cultural, and recreational resources.

To enroll in PACE, individuals must be 55 or older, live within the program's service area, be certified by the state as needing nursing-home-level care, and be able to live safely in the community with PACE support. Many participants are covered through Medicare and/or Medicaid, which typically pay for PACE services at no or low cost. Midland Care PACE participants receive a wide range of services coordinated by an interdisciplinary care team. These include primary medical care, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social work, personal care and assistance with daily activities, nutritious meals, prescription medications, medical equipment, transportation to and from the PACE center, and social and recreational programming. The goal is to address the whole person — physical, emotional, and social — as a fully integrated care experience.
